The prognosis is usually good if cervical disc disease is treated surgically. One of the common symptoms of cervical disc disease is pain with reluctance to move the head and neck. Less frequently, neck pain with lameness in one limb may occur. Diagnosis is usually made with X-rays or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Without surgery, long term pain will probably ensue.
A K9 Cart is not usually indicated for cervical disc disease. An exception would be the loss of walking function post-surgery or a massive disc rupture leading to long-term disability. A fully supportive four-wheeled K9 Cart can be helpful in these cases, but we urge you to consult our veterinary expertise prior to considering a K9 Cart.
